What is Belching? Belching (medically referred as eructation) is nothing but release of intestinal air through mouth with or without sound. This happens due to swallowing air when eating or drinking which happens very commonly. Burping is one way in which in excess air swallowed by body is removed. This very rarely seeks medical emergency. Very frequent belching accompanied with discomfort affecting daily routines needs medical attention. Sometime belching is caused by the type of food taken that produces gas like baked beans, raw fruits, veggies or drinking carbonated beverages (soda).
