Lemon Juice Acne Cleansing Pad

Lemon juice works well as an acne remedy because of the L-absorbic acid and vitamin C. The L-absorbic acid kills acne causing bacteria. It also unclogs pores and makes pores appear smaller. Vitamin C gives the acne remedy astringent properties that help with the overproduction of oil.

Topical use of lemons will leave behind a glowing after effect and reduce redness over time. Lemon juice also balances the pH levels of the skin after prolonged use making it harder for acne causing bacteria to form. It also helps to fade acne scars and dark spots.

All you need to make this home acne remedy are fresh squeezed lemon juice in a bowl and a cotton square pad or ball. Enough lemon juice to soak into the cotton is all you need. Store the rest of the lemon juice in a container with a lid. The juice will keep for two to three days in a refrigerator.

Add water to the lemon juice to dilute it if you have sensitive skin or if it really stings your skin. Test a small amount on the back of your hand before soaking the cotton with the lemon juice. Then, test a small amount on your face. The lemon juice will sting a little no matter what. But if it stings a lot, dilute it with more water to avoid irritation that causes pimples.

Make and applying a lemon juice acne cleansing pad. Dampen the cotton pad with lemon juice and apply it to your face gently rubbing in circular motions for about a minute. Avoid sensitive areas such as your eyes, eyebrows, and keep the juice a quarter inch away from your mouth. Also, avoid getting the lemon juice on to your hair as much as you can. Lemon juice is a natural highlighter and will bleach hair. After applying, wash your face with a cleanser, and apply a moisturizer that wont clog pores. If the juice gets on your hair be sure to rinse it out. Take a shower after to get all of the juice out if needed. You do not need to rewash your face.

Lemon juice for acne cleansing pad tips.

Do not use artificially flavored lemon juice. Apply lemon juice freshly squeezed from an organic fresh yellow lemon. Do not use a lemon that has turned brown or yellowish brown. To avoid irritation do not apply lemon juice right after something that makes the skin sensitive such as face peels, exfoliates, or shaving.

Do not use daily. Use lemon juice for acne at most twice a week if you have average or oily skin. If you have dry or sensitive skin use it at most once a week. Using lemon juice topically for acne too often will cause you to dry out your skin and become irritated. Dry skin causes your body to produce more oil, and irritation has been clinically proven to cause acne. During the winter use lemon juice for acne less often. Lemon juice should only be used to enhance a skin care routine not replace it. The same goes with other acidic remedies. If you are already using an acidic remedy in your skin care routine such as apple cider vinegar, choose one or the other so the acids will not dry out your skin. Use these types of natural remedies for acne to replace expensive toners because of the breaking down effects the acids have on makeup and other skin care products.

Always apply a moisturizer after using lemon juice for acne. This will lessen irritation and help with the drying effects. When applying in the morning use a moisturizer that contains at least SPF 30. Also, wear a hat to shade your face if you will be spending a prolonged amount of time in the sun. The acidic properties of lemon juice make the skin highly sensitive to the sun. When exposed to the sun the bleaching effects that lemon juice has on the hair is also increased. Only apply lemon juice at night to avoid overexposure to the sun.

Lemon juice acne scrub.

Turn the cleansing pad into a face scrub by sprinkling about half a teaspoon of sugar onto the cotton pad. The sugar will exfoliate the skin removing dead skin cells, dirt, more oil. Exfoliate with any face scrub at most one a week if you have average or oily skin and once every other week if you have dry or sensitive skin. Lemon juice is already harsh on sensitive skin. So if you have really sensitive skin avoid using sugar with lemon juice altogether because it will be too irritating.
