Keeping cell phones, pillows, and hands clean are hygienic practices that can help reduce pimples that form on the lower and upper areas of your cheeks. Another less known hygienic practice that helps to prevent pimples on your cheeks from forming is mouth care.

Clean your mouth at night and in the morning.

Don’t pick one or the other. Clean your mouth before you eat breakfast or pour yourself a cup of coffee or tea. It’s best to kill the bacteria that forms in your mouth overnight as soon as possible. Wait an hour to brush after drinking or eating something acidic. Acidic foods and fruits soften the enamel of your teeth. Brushing right after having an acidic drink like coffee or acidic fruit like an orange will wear down the enamel.

Cleaning your mouth is more than just brushing.

Tongue scrapping may be the best thing you can do to clean your mouth. When you wake up in the morning there’s usually a lot of gunk build up on your tongue. Just brushing it off isn’t sufficient. And tongue cleaners on the back of tooth brushes don’t work well enough either.

What you need is a standalone tongue scraper. Use a tongue scraper twice a day to get rid of the gunk that builds up on your tongue at night and throughout the day. Your mouth will feel refreshed even after the first use, and you’ll have fresher breath for a longer period of time. Your mouth wont feel the same after using a tongue scraper. The feeling is addicting, you wont want to go back to not using one.
Another must for mouth care is flossing.
Floss at least once a day. When you floss get both sides of the teeth getting underneath your gums. If you’re unsure how to floss properly ask your dental hygienist at your next teeth cleaning.

Your gums may be weak at first, but stick with it! The benefits and feel of stronger gums are well worth putting up with a few days of tenderness. Think of the last time you went to the dentist and hadn’t been flossing. It hurts like heck when the hygienist flosses your teeth! Now think about going back and having strong gums. It won’t hurt when you get your teeth flossed at your next cleaning and you can brag to your dentist that you’ve been flossing.

Use a hydrogen peroxide rinse.
Hydrogen peroxide foams up in your mouth in the morning killing all the bacteria that formed in your mouth while you were sleeping. It also gets rid of stains and whitens after prolonged use. You can get a hydrogen peroxide rinse that is made of natural ingredients and can be used as a toothpaste, mouth rinse, or both.small and large bottle of Essential Oxygen Organic Brushing Rinse Peppermint

Green tea as a mouthwash? Drinking a cup of green tea after you’ve finish cleaning your mouth will rid your mouth of any leftover bacteria from the high concentration of antioxidants. If you don’t like the taste of green tea try it with some honey. Do not add sugar and especially not splenda or another artificial ingredient otherwise it will neutralize the cleansing effects of green tea. The antioxidants in green tea help to fight acne in other ways by balancing hormones, reducing inflammation, and aiding in detoxification. Drink at least four to five cups a day to start seeing results from the clearing effects green tea has on acne.

Keep bacteria from forming in your mouth by using xylitol. Start using xylitol or a toothpaste with xylitol in it to clean your teeth. You will notice fresher breath in the morning because the xylitol balances the pH levels in your mouth. Balanced pH levels keep bacteria from forming as much. Use a fluoride-free toothpaste if breakouts occur frequently around your mouth. The irritating effects of fluoride are usually a factor in causing breakouts around the mouth to happen.

Wear a mouth guard at night for teeth grinding. If you wake up in the morning and your jaw and temples are sore it could be caused by grinding your teeth at night. Teeth can be worn down from grinding and gums can also be injured by the pulling back and forth that occurs while grinding.Dental Hygiene Mouth Guard in caseA mouth guard made by a professional is the best way to get a sturdy mouth guard that will stay in while you sleep. Another option is to purchase a mouth guard from a store and fit it yourself at home. The causes for someone grinding their teeth at night can vary, but if you do, it is important for keeping your teeth and gums healthy to wear a mouth guard at night.
